Why do I need to have x-rays? Nothing is hurting.

X-rays allow us to find cavities while they are small, and both easy and inexpensive to fix. If you wait until something hurts, the tooth may end up needing a root canal and a crown. Before x-rays my grandmother went to the dentist with a sore tooth and he could see nothing wrong, so he pulled the tooth she said was hurting. With the tooth in hand, he could see nothing wrong... but with the gap now present, he could see the cavity in the adjacent tooth... so they pulled it!
