What can I do about my dental anxiety?

We realize that many people have a fear of going to the dentist. For some, they may have had a bad experience as a child. For others, the fear may seem irrational but it is still very real.

We understand—and we work well with fearful patients! We believe that building relationships based on trust can go a long way in relieving a patient’s anxiety. Many times, we have found that a patient’s anxiety continues to decrease as he or she gets to know our staff.

We also believe that fear of the unknown can contribute to fear of the dentist, and patient education is one way to circumvent some of that. If you have questions about your visit or expected treatment, we are here to help! Whether you have specific concerns or you just want to discuss what to expect, we are happy to take the time with you—however long you need.

For more stubborn anxiety, we can also prescribe medication you can take before your appointment. We also offer nitrous oxide—also known as laughing gas—that can help relax you during your appointment.

The bottom line is that we do not want a fear of the dentist keep you from getting the treatment you need!
